From solar energy systems for hot water and electricity generation and intelligent air, air to water and ground source heat pump systems for cost effective domestic or commercial heat distribution.
Solar Water Heating: Heat water for your home using energy from the sun.
Solar water heating systems use free heat from the sun to warm your hot water. A conventional boiler or immersion heater can be used top this up and make the water hotter, or to provide hot water when solar energy is unavailable.
Benefits of Solar Water Heating
• Hot water throughout the year: the system works all year round, though you’ll need to heat the water further with a boiler or immersion heater during the winter months.
• Cut your bills: sunlight is free, so once you’ve paid for the initial installation your hot water costs will be reduced.
• Cut your carbon footprint: solar hot water is a green, renewable heating system and can reduce your carbon dioxide emissions.
Air source heat pumps (also known as ASHPs): Heat your home with energy absorbed from the air around you
Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air. This heat can then be used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems, or warm air convectors and hot water in your home. An air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside. It can get heat from the air even when the temperature is as low as -15° C. Heat pumps have some impact on the environment as they need electricity to run, but the heat they extract from the ground, air, or water is constantly being renewed naturally.
The benefits of air source heat pumps
• ASHPs could lower your fuel bills
• Provide you with an income through the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI)
• May lower your home’s carbon emissions
• Heat your home and provide and hot water
• Little maintenance required
Air to water heat pumps
Greensource air source heat pumps provide heating and hot water for the home. In this compact monobloc design all of components are contained in the outdoor unit. Only the domestic hot water cylinder and control display are installed inside the property for connection to the heating system.
Air to water heat pumps use the constant energy available in the air with a refrigerant circuit which allows the temperature to be boosted to a useful level for heating or hot water for the home. Greensource air to water heat pumps are Microgeneration Certification Scheme approved.
Ground source heat pumps: Heat your home with energy from the ground.
Ground source heat pumps use pipes which are buried in the garden to extract heat from the ground. This can then be used to heat radiators and hot water in your home.
A ground source heat pump circulates a mixture of water and antifreeze around a ground loop of piping, which is buried in your garden. Heat from the ground is absorbed into the fluid and then passes through a heat exchanger into the heat pump. The ground stays at a fairly constant temperature under the surface, so the heat pump can be used throughout the year…even in the middle of winter!
